Why I teach
I believe its never too late to start something new.
I created this space for adults who want to dance, whether it's something you've always wanted to try or something you're finding your way back to. You don't need previous experience, perfect coordination, or natural rhythm. You just need to show up willing to learn.
What to expect we'll learn the fundamentals of hip hop, build combinations, explore new styles, challenge ourselves, and dance it out. Some weeks will feel easy, some will push you outside your comfort zone, and some will remind you just how much fun it is to learn something new.
But the goal isn't perfection.
It's progress. It's confidence. It's laughing when we mess up, celebrating when something finally clicks, and encouraging one another along the way.
I want you to leave class feeling proud that you showed up for yourself. I want you to feel more comfortable taking up space, trying new things, and trusting your ability to grow.
Because dance isn't just for people who have been doing it their whole lives. It's for anyone willing to begin.
So come as you are. Bring your energy, your curiosity, and your willingness to try.

WHAT THE COMMUNITY SAYS
“When Shanda teaches hip-hop, it's an incredible experience! I love her enthusiasm and energy she brings to the room. She always has encouraged everyone to get involved. Each time she introduces a new routine, it's unique, so I never know what exciting choreography awaits us!”
Mark Tebbs, SUU Hip Hop Member
“Shanda is such an incredible artist! She has learned almost everything on her own, and when I met her, I was absolutely blown away with her talent! Her detail is incredible and the way she grooves, moves and attacks. Her movement is breathtaking. I absolutely loved the opportunity in getting to see her grow.”

Roots in Dance
SUU Studies
My academic foundation at SUU has provided a disciplined environment to explore the technical and artistic dimensions of movement, complementing my creative practice.
Hip Hop Club Leadership
As a leader in the Hip Hop club, I have dedicated myself to fostering a community where creativity and empowerment is shared and every dancer is empowered to find their unique voice.
10+ Years of dance experience
My dance journey has been unique and shaped by creativity, self-teaching, and a passion for exploring different styles, including contemporary, jazz, and hip hop. Through creating choreography and finding my own way of learning, I’ve developed a personal approach to movement that continues to inspire my growth as a dancer and instructor.
